Valery has been training dogs since 2017, but has always had a love for animals. Valery grew up in New York City where her family was never able to own a pet dog of their own. She always found a way to spend time with dogs though, with her earliest memory being playing fetch with her neighbors Rottweiler and Black Russian Terrier.
While in High School she was afforded an opportunity to shadow a well known dog trainer in her area. This is where Valery began her knowledge base in pet obedience and relationship building. After high school she joined the Air Force, but suffered an injury which put her on medical leave. This afforded her a unique opportunity to foster and train dogs in New Mexico to make them more adoptable. She learned a lot about behavioral issues specializing in fear and reactivity cases. Though her intent during her tenure was always to rehabilitate and place every dog, she came across one very special dog. This dog was a black mutt and instantly bonded with Valery. Valery named him Ben and found him a forever home in her heart. She trained him as her PTSD service dog after being diagnosed and medically separated from the Air Force. This experience cemented her love and passion for dog training and she has sought to become a better trainer ever since.
Since getting Ben, Valery has been very active in the training of service dogs taking on many private clients through her travels. She has trained dogs in five states both privately and under the guidance of professional training businesses. She learned a lot during this time and has taught Ben many different skills such as Agility, Dock Diving, Tricks and Disc. In 2019 an acquaintance reached out to Valery and asked her to take a senior Lab, Annie, that had developed severe behavioral issues, but with proper training structure and management she became the second in Valery’s pack in no time. In August of 2020 Annie succumbed to seizures and dementia, and while she was only with Valery a short time, she taught her more about training than any dog ever has. Valery is grateful for all the memories, lessons and adventures Annie shared with her.
Currently Valery has 3 dogs and occasionally fosters dogs in need, Ben who is retired from service dog work, but still an active sport dog. Draco, who is a young border collie and is a prospect in taking over Ben's service dog duties as well as competing in any sport he enjoys. Finally Sijan, a young Belgian Malinois who is training in IGP, but actively participates in any activity Valery throws at him. She actively teaches tricks, agility, stunts, dock diving and more to all her dogs and has utilized their skills to perform with the SuperDogs, Extreme Dogs, and her own show TheBorkPack. With these shows they’ve had the opportunity to travel throughout many continental US states and Canadian provinces showcasing her dogs amazing talents in front of live audiences. During her off season she partners with local rescues to help dogs in need receive training they need to make them the best version of themselves and be more likely to find furever homes.
Valery currently specializes in puppy foundations, pet obedience, fear reactivity and building confidence in fearful dogs.
